Digital Binoculars

Steiner introduced the 7×50 Commander Digital which has a built-in navigational aid which reads bearing and inclination.  This state of the art marine binocular is rugged and lightweight and designed for racers, cruisers and professional navigators who demand precision high-tech optics.

Embedded in the binocular is Steiner’s new fluxgate compass which features a microprocessor that computes up to 15 bearings per second, providing greater reliability for instantaneous digital bearings that are precise to one degree, even with inclination angles up to 10 degrees.

with a power-saving feature, it turns itself off after 10 seconds of non-use.  After powering up, it displays the last readings and provides fast, accurate bearings on any situation.

Other features include enhanced light transmission technology which maximizes gain of up to 96% for low-light situations.  The 7×50 Commander Digital also features a light entrance window, which measures light and automatically adjusts the brightness of the LED display. This allows self-adjustment for the light passing through for easily readable data in daylight and in artificial light.

This unit is also ruggedized with an advanced military design and a fiber-reinforced polycarbonate blue rubber-armored housing, which makes it rugged and lightweight and help it perform even in the harshest weather conditions.  It uses anodized aluminum components to protect against corrosion, and the binocular is waterproof to a depth of five meters (16.4 ft). It is shockproof,  and internal optical chambers are pressurized to protect against condensation at varying temperatures.

The binocular’s built in compass and software is a far cry from a binocular and compass tandem.  Though designed as a marine binocular, it will also do well in inland conditions for trekking or inland waterways travel.
